37th Southeastern Magnetic Resonance Conference

The 37th Southeastern Magnetic Resonance Conference will be October 17-19, 2008 in Tallahassee, Florida. SEMRC is held every year and rotates among various locations in the southeastern United States. The focus of the conference is the exchange of ideas and recent magnetic resonance research highlights, including new applications and technique development. Particular emphasis is placed on activities in the region.
The 2007 SEMRC was hosted by The University of Alabama and held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, along with Florida State University, are pleased to bring SEMRC back to Florida and to support the conference again, as it did in 1995, 1999 and 2003.

The 37th Southeastern Magnetic Resonance Conference will be held at the Florida State University, University Center Club located at 1 Champions Way, FSU Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.
Florida State University was founded originally in 1851 as the Seminary West of the Suwannee by the State Legislature. Florida State University is nationally recognized as an elite research institution and is a nationally recognized center of excellence in the visual and performing arts. The University Center Club is located in the heart of the Florida State University Campus and combines the traditions of Florida State University and the customs of a fine private club.

The Marriott Courtyard-Apalachee is located minutes from the state capitol and a short distance from the University Center Club and the Florida State Museum of History.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the rate of $89.00 per night plus tax (current tax is 11.5 percent). Please make your reservations by no later than October 3, 2008 as after that date, rooms will not be held and the special night rate may not be available. Rooms have been reserved for arrival on Friday, October 17th with a departure on Sunday, October 19th. Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and checkout time is 12:00 p.m. Reservations may be made by telephone or by booking online at www.courtyardtallahassee.com. To book by telephone, call 850-222-8822. You will need to ask for the High Magnetic Field group conference in October to ensure that you receive the negotiated conference rate. Online booking can be completed by following these steps:
- Log onto www.courtyardtallahassee.com.
- Enter the dates of your stay (check in on October 17, 2008 with check out on October 19, 2008).
- Under group code, enter "mflmfla" for a king-size bed, or "mflmflb" for a room with two queen-size beds.
- The room rate of $89 per night and the group name of High Magnetic Field will show.
- Choose Reserve a Room and it will walk you through the process to complete your reservation.

The University Center
The University Center Club is located in Building B of the University Center at Doak Campbell Stadium. The entrance to Building B is located on Champions Way between gates G and F of the stadium. You may turn onto Champions Way via either Pensacola Street or Hendry Street. The entrance to visitors parking is by the blue shack halfway between Buildings B and C. Parking will be free while attendance at the conference. Should you receive a parking stub, please see any of the conference staff and they will take care of it for you.
Directions from Tallahassee Regional Airport to The University Center Club
Turn left out of the airport parking lot. At the first light turn left to continue on Capital Circle. At the next light turn right onto State Road 20 (Pensacola Street). Continue on Pensacola, you will come to a light, take a right. Continue around the Stadium, until you come to another light at Hendry. Take a left at Hendry into the Stadium. You will come to a stop sign, take a right and continue until you see the Visitor's Parking on your right, take a right and then an immediate left. You will proceed to the tollbooth and grab a ticket.
Directions from I-10 (Monroe Street) to The University Center Club
From Exit 29 (199) go south on Highway 27 (Monroe Street). Take a right onto Jefferson Street (located directly before the Capital Building on Monroe Street). Jefferson Street becomes Pensacola Street. Turn left onto Champions Way into stadium parking. Follow Signs to Visitor parking.
Directions from I-10 (Thomasville Road) to The University Center Club
Take Thomasville Road South two to three miles until you merge onto Monroe Street. Make a left onto Monroe Street. Take Monroe Street South until you are at the Jefferson Street Traffic Light. Take a right onto Jefferson Street (located directly before the Capital Building on Monroe Street). Jefferson Street becomes Pensacola Street. Turn left at the last traffic light onto Champions Way into stadium parking. Follow Signs to Visitor parking.
Transportation will be provided by the conference from the conference hotel to The University Center Club.
The Marriott Courtyard-Apalachee

Take a right onto Capital Circle, follow 7 miles to Hwy 27 (Woodville Hwy.) and go left. Follow 3 miles. Make a right onto Apalachee Parkway and the hotel is on the left. Estimated taxi fare: $2 0.00 USD (one way).
Directions from I-10 (East) to The Marriott Courtyard-Apalachee
From exit 209A: Take ramp and continue on US-90. Go about 6 miles and make a left onto Magnolia Drive. Turn right onto Apalachee Parkway and then immediately bear right onto the service road. The Marriott Courtyard is down on the right.
Directions from I-10 (West) to The Marriott Courtyard-Apalachee
From exit 199: Once at the ramp's light, turn right (south) onto Monroe Street (US-27). Go about 4 miles and make a left onto Apalachee Parkway. The Marriott Courtyard is on the left-hand side.
Transportation to and from the airport and the Marriott Courtyard-Apalachee can be arranged on a group basis. If you are interested in trying to get in with group travel, especially if there are several of you arriving at the same time, please e-mail semrc2008@magnet.fsu.edu with your flight dates and times and we will inform you if group travel was able to be arranged for you.
Registration fee includes: conference fee, welcome reception on October 17, 2008, lunch and banquet on October 18, 2008, and lunch on October 19, 2008.

*Student rate requires an advisor letter to be submitted with the registration form verifying participation and student status. Student slots with presentation are limited and will be on a first come basis. Notification verifying student rate will be sent to the participant.
Limited student travel stipends are available. Requests must be submitted to semrc2008@magnet.fsu.edu and include an advisor letter, an abstract (download abstract submittal form) and must be received by no later than September 8. Determinations will be made and announced in time to meet the early registration deadline of September 12.
Receipts for the registration fee will be delivered via e-mail after processing of the payment is complete.

Registration cancellations made by October 3, 2008 will receive a full refund minus a 10 percent processing fee. Cancellations made after October 3, 2008 but before October 10, 2008 will receive a full refund minus a 20 percent processing fee. Cancellations made on or after October 10, 2008 will receive a full refund minus a 50 percent processing fee.
Lodging cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance to arrival date and must be made through the Hotel directly.

Poster Board Specification
- Posters may be set up beginning on Friday, October 17th after 5:00 p.m.
- All posters need to be in place by Saturday, October 18th at 4:00 p.m.
- Posters must be removed by no later than Sunday, October 19th at 12:30 p.m. Any posters left at the conference will be thrown away.
